Services offered by the Dental Clinics of Albania Dent
Periodontology deals with the treatment and prevention of periodontal disease, more commonly known as "periodontitis" or even more recently known as "pyorrhea". Periodontitis is in scientific terms
the inflammation of the periodontium.
Inflammation due almost always to a poor or incorrect dental hygiene which, if protracted over time, becomes chronic causing the gums to detach from the teeth and giving rise to the formation of the so called periodontal pockets which in turn cause damage to the alveolar bone with the consequent reduction of its height. If it happens to become chronic, the teeth begin to falter and if no action is taken urgently and with appropriate methods the fall of the affected teeth will be unavoidable.
Albania Dent has always considered periodontal health as the priority and fundamental step for treating the health of our patients' mouths. In the absence of good control of the bacterial plaque and of the gingival inflammation consequent the dental therapies are inevitably destined to failure.
The periodontist is a specialized dentist, usually abroad, in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases as well as implant placement and reconstructive surgery when teeth and tissues have been destroyed by various pathological processes.
The periodontist also deals with restoring the aesthetics of the smile through aesthetic surgical procedures.
gingival inflammation, concerning about 40% of adults, which starts very often with the simple bleeding of the gums during the daily cleaning of the teeth or during the mastication of particularly solid foods,
The swelling of the gums that become more and more sensitive to the contact of the toothbrush and food.
halitosis that is the stinking breath and the distortion of taste sensitivity
Apparent elongation of the teeth (determined by retraction of the gums and bone resorption).
Poor oral hygiene, with consequent increase in bacterial plaque that gets to creep deeper and deeper between the gums and the root surface of the teeth and thus becomes less and less tolerable by the brush and the dental floss.
A genetic predisposition, ie an immune system not sufficiently developed and able to attack the bacterial flora involved.
The cause of the disease is the anaerobic bacteria living in the absence of oxygen
Cerebrovascular and cardiovascular diseases.

The collection of a series of measures through the so-called periodontal survey
Measurement with calibrated instruments of a standard set of parameters on each tooth; the depth of the groove formed between the gingiva and the tooth surface, the possible retraction of the gingiva margin with respect to the original position, the dental mobility and others again).
The execution of radiographs according to protocols that allow a precise evaluation of existing relationships in skeletal tissues and tooth roots.
The information collected is used to orientate the type of preliminary or initial therapy, the control of present and active inflammation.
The initial therapy normally involves the removal of bacterial plaque and tartar present at the level above and subgingival during one or more appointments.
After this initial phase, a diagnostic revaluation phase takes place, in which the parameters already evaluated and measured on the first visit are again analyzed for a diagnostic evaluation of comparison with the initial framework.
